Welcome to HatCenter
The first meeting point on the Web for information about hats and related
fashion accessories: manufacturers, suppliers, trade fairs, museums,
publications, and much more about the special world of hats.
This site is sponsored by a group of Florentine hat manufacturers, but will
welcome collaboration with specialists around the world.
Florence is a city of art and tradition, the home of master artisans in many
fields of endeavor: silversmiths, ebanists, gilders, tailors and dressmakers,
and the many artisans involved in the making of hats. These include the makers
of hat blocks and molds, the mechanics who make the special machines, the
dyers, the milliners who can transform any kind of fabric, fur, leather, felt
or straw into hats and then trim them with ribbons, silk flowers, feathers or
whatever current fashion dictates.
For centuries Florence has been known as an important center for hats. Today
these artisans, stylists and workshops have come together to establish
Hatcenter, a worldwide meeting point for everyone with an interest in knowing
more about hats.
